The Git-Integrated Markdown Editor (the "App") does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There is no analytics, no advertising, no telemetry, and no account that you create with us.
Who we are
The App is published by Sean Patrick, an individual based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). You can contact us at [email protected]. For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller for any personal data we process in connection with the App — although, as explained below, that processing is limited to direct correspondence you initiate with us.
What the App does not collect
The App does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Your name, email address, postal address, phone number, or any other contact details.
- Your IP address, geolocation, or device identifier (IDFA, IDFV, advertising ID).
- Usage analytics, behavioural data, session recordings, or interaction telemetry.
- Crash logs sent to third-party crash-reporting services. Crash logs that iOS shares with Apple are governed by Apple's own privacy policy and are only seen by us in aggregated, anonymised form via App Store Connect, if at all.
- The content of the Markdown files or Git repositories you work with. Your files stay on your device and travel only between your device and the Git hosting service you choose to connect to (for example, GitHub).
- Authentication credentials. GitHub personal access tokens and SSH keys you enter are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device only. They are never transmitted to us and we cannot read them.
What information leaves your device
Two categories of network traffic originate from the App, and both go directly from your device to a third party — never to us:
- Git operations. When you clone, fetch, pull, or push a repository, your device communicates over HTTPS or SSH with the Git host you have chosen (for example, GitHub). The data exchanged is the Git protocol data needed to perform the operation, including any credentials you have configured. We do not see, proxy, or log this traffic.
- GitHub OAuth sign-in. If you sign in to GitHub from within the App, the system browser (Apple's ASWebAuthenticationSession) is used to redirect you to GitHub and back. The resulting OAuth token is delivered straight to your device and stored in the iOS Keychain. We do not receive or store this token.
The App has no backend server. There is no service we operate that receives data from the App.
Third parties we do not share with
Because we do not collect personal data, we have no personal data to share, sell, rent, or otherwise transfer to any third party — including advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or affiliated companies.
Children's privacy
The App is suitable for general audiences but is not directed at children under 13. Because we do not collect any personal data from anyone, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has somehow had personal data exposed to us — for example by emailing us — please contact [email protected] and we will delete that correspondence.
Correspondence with us
If you email us at [email protected], our email provider will, by necessity, process your email address and the content of your message so that we can read and reply. We retain support email only as long as needed to handle the matter, and in any case no longer than 24 months. The legal basis under Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR is our legitimate interest in providing user support and responding to enquiries.
Your rights under UK GDPR
If you are in the United Kingdom or the EEA, you have the right to:
- access any personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to processing;
- data portability; and
- lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
In practice, the only personal data we hold about you is anything you have voluntarily included in an email to us. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
International transfers
Our email is hosted by a provider located outside the United Kingdom. Where applicable, transfers of correspondence personal data outside the UK rely on the UK's adequacy decisions or on the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, as appropriate.
Security
Because the App does not transmit data to us, the security boundary for your content is the security of your own device, your chosen Git host, and the credentials you store. The App uses the iOS Keychain — a hardware-backed secure store — for any tokens or SSH keys you configure within it.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change the App so that it does collect, store, or transmit personal data, we will update this policy before the change ships and post the new version here with a revised effective date. Material changes will be highlighted in the App's release notes. The current version is always available at https://legal.powercoffee.me/privacy/.
